Dr. Hall's fundamental expertise lies in the area of mechanics of materials which provides for the analysis and design of mechanical and structural parts / systems. He uses SolidWorks to model and simulate the behavior of parts subjected to forces, torques and thermal loading. He has worked in the area of Trenchless Technology for many years, studying the mechanical response of infrastructure systems (mainly pipes and pipe liners) and working to develop new technologies to support the trenchless industry.Dr. Hall has spent much of his 20+ year faculty career implementing project-focused learning in his engineering courses. He started the Living with the Lab first-year engineering curriculum at Louisiana Tech. He implements course projects where students utilize their own hardware and software to render prototypes and working systems. He is interested in electronics, sensing, control, programming and other enabling technologies (such as 3D printing) to build working systems.
