Health Informatics (Certificate)

The Department of Health Informatics and Information Management at Louisiana Tech also offers an online graduate certificate in Health Informatics. The certificate provides students with an understanding of the importance of information technology used in healthcare, how to manage healthcare projects, data privacy and security standards, and analysis of health information data. Coursework toward this certificate can be applied to the Master of Health Informatics graduate program. The certificate consists of 12 semester credit hours (4 courses) with no GRE requirement.

The program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education (CAHIIM). Students who complete the program are eligible to sit for the registration examination of the American Health Information Management Association during their last quarter of study. Graduates who pass this examination may use the credential RHIA, Registered Health Information Administrator. The program’s graduate satisfaction rate is 100% (2022-2023), the graduation rate is 67% (2022), and the employment rate is 77% (2022-2023).
