The Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Educational Leadership is designed for certified teachers who are ready to take the next step in their careers as school leaders and administrators. This graduate program equips educators with the knowledge, skills, and field experience needed to lead schools and districts effectively, ethically, and strategically. Students complete coursework in school law, leadership theory, data-driven decision-making, and instructional supervision, culminating in a year-long internship in a P–12 setting. Program requirements also include a professional oral presentation, a passing score on the Louisiana Educational Leadership assessment, and a successful defense of an electronic portfolio.
Applicants must be nominated by a school administrator or other education professional and must hold a current Level II or Level III Professional Teaching Certificate (or equivalent). With a strong focus on real-world leadership practice and state certification readiness, this program prepares graduates to serve as principals, assistant principals, instructional leaders, and district-level administrators.
