The Studio Art program at Louisiana Tech is for students who want to explore their creativity and build the skills to make a career in the visual arts. This NASAD-accredited BFA degree offers a broad foundation in traditional and contemporary art practices. Students start with the basics (drawing, design, and color theory) then move into areas like painting, ceramics, photography, illustration, sculpture, printmaking, and digital media.
Faculty are practicing artists who work closely with students to help them develop both technical skill and a personal direction. As students move through the program, they begin focusing on their own interests and building a cohesive body of work. The final year emphasizes professional practice and culminates in a senior exhibition that prepares students to show, share, and speak about their work.
This program is a good fit for students who want to make art a central part of their lives, whether as working artists, designers, educators, or in roles that value creative thinking and visual communication. With strong support, plenty of studio time, and the freedom to explore, students graduate ready to continue their practice or pursue graduate study in the arts.
