Bureau of Labor Statistics (U.S.)
The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) is the principal fact-finding agency for the Federal Government in the broad field of labor economics and statistics. The BLS is an independent national statistical agency that collects, processes, analyzes, and disseminates essential statistical data to the American public, the U.S. Congress, other Federal agencies, State and local governments, business, and labor.

Career Guide to Industries

Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance
A government-wide compendium of Federal programs, projects, services, and activities which provide assistance or benefits to the American public. It contains financial and non-financial assistance programs administered by departments and establishments of the Federal government.

Catalog of U.S. Government Publications (Government Printing Office)
The GPO catalog contains records of U.S. publications from July 1976-Present. As a Regional Depository, Louisiana Tech has the majority of these publications in the library and most can be checked out. Internet-only government documents are also available through the library’s database.

The Library of Congress is the nation’s oldest federal cultural institution, and it serves as the research arm of Congress. It is also the largest library in the world, with more than 120 million items. The collections include books, sound recordings, motion pictures, photographs, maps, and manuscripts.

MedlinePlus: Health Information from the National Library of Medicine
A service of the US National Library of Medicine and the National Institutes of Health. Written in easy to understand language, this site gives details on over 800 topics including diseases, conditions, and wellness. There are links to local resources (US) and reference materials including an encyclopedia and dictionary.

MetaLib
A service of the Catalog of U.S. Government Publications, MetaLib searches multiple U.S. Federal government databases, retrieving reports, articles, and citations while providing direct links to selected resources available online.

National Center for Education Statistics (NCES)
The National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) is the primary federal entity for collecting and analyzing data related to education. This site has links to yearly reports on The Condition of Education, Digest of Education Statistics, Indicators of School Crime and Safety, and Projections of Education Statistics.

National Center for Health Statistics
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention site designed to provide quick and easy access to a wide range of information and data from birth and death records, medical records, interview surveys, and through direct physical exams and laboratory testing. Also includes links to related sites.

National Invasive Species Information Center
