This year's contest is open to students in English courses from Spring 2026 through Winter 2027.
Contestants may only submit essays written for course credit.
Contestants may submit more than one essay, but they can only submit one essay per category.
Winners will be announced in April and recognized at the SLL annual Shakespeare Festival. You will only be notified of results if you place first, second, or third.

English 2000/3000 Level - Short Creative Assignments (up to 12 pages)
English 3000 Level - Short Technical Assignments (up to 5 pages)
English 3000 - Level - Long Project (6 or more pages)
English 4000 - Level Literary Essay
English 5000 - Level 2,200-2,500-word essay (condensed draft of graduate essay)
