Louisiana Tech University enrolled 12,145 students in the 2025 Fall Quarter, the highest total enrollment since 2018 and the third consecutive year of increase. The freshman class of 2,416 represents the largest domestic class in the institution’s more than 130-year history.

“Our students are drawn to and prepared for the academic rigor associated with Louisiana Tech,” said President Jim Henderson. “The University is focused on scholarship, teaching, and experiential learning which prepares our graduates for life and career success. We have more Louisianians enrolled than ever before, each enjoying the vibrant campus environment of a comprehensive research institution in an idyllic college town.”

The University has prioritized growth by emphasizing its distinguishing characteristic: tailored, student-focused learning experiences in more than 135 degree programs aligned with 21st century challenges and opportunities. Louisiana Tech’s investment in modern facilities, leading-edge research, and personalized student service also contribute to its rising enrollment.

“Over the last several years, there’s been a real focus on raising Louisiana Tech’s brand awareness outside of our area, especially in the southern half of the state,” said Director of Undergraduate Recruitment and Admissions Trée George. “Bringing high school counselors to campus and investing heavily in communication with prospective students has led to substantial growth across I-10 from Lake Charles to New Orleans.”

Notable program growth includes Nursing at 20 percent and Aviation management at 46 percent. Forestry, Agriculture Business, Animal Science, Political Science, Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering Technology, and Accounting each experienced double-digit percentage growth. Louisiana Tech is classified as a Carnegie R2 for its high research activity; doctoral students increased by 8 percent.

Freshmen in the Honors College increased by 22 percent and boast an average ACT score of 31.

“Our team works year-round across the state, region, and overseas to make individuals aware of all that Louisiana Tech has to offer,” Senior VP for Student Advancement and COO Dickie Crawford said. “With an emphasis on individual outcomes, we anticipate our newest Bulldogs will enjoy their college experience just as the more than 118,000 alumni before them.”
