A club sport is a recognized campus organization through the Office of Student Activities who receives approval through the Club Sports Program to operate and function as an organization that wishes to promote a particular sport or activity through intercollegiate competition. Club Sports are formed by students who are motivated by a common interest and desire to participate in a sport or activity. It exists to promote and develop interest in that sport. Its members learn new skills, refine existing skills, engage in competition, and enjoy the recreational and social fellowship of collegiate sports.

Louisiana Tech Bass Fishing Club provides a great experience for students who share an interest in bass fishing. Our team travels across the country to fish Bassmaster, FLW, and ACA collegiate tournaments. In addition, we also fish club tournaments about once a month on lakes and rivers in north Louisiana. We have many sponsors that offer discounts and incentives to our team. Joining our club is a great opportunity to make lifelong friendships while enjoying the great outdoors. Anglers of all experience levels are welcome, and you do not need a boat to join the club and fish.

Louisiana Tech’s men’s club bowling team utilizes specialized equipment and lanes during their practices and travels to nearby tournaments. Their athletes learn different skills and techniques to build on pre-existing bowling skills and those new to the sport.

Founded in 2022, Disc Golf competes in the Collegiate Disc Golf League. The Disc Golf team travels across the US in tournaments after receiving bids to compete at Nationals. The Disc Golf team practices locally at Hideaway Park, North of Joe Alliet Stadium.

Founded in the Fall of 2017, the Louisiana Tech Esports Club is a home to ALL gamers on campus, both in competitive and non-competitive scenes, and is continuing to grow rapidly. The goal of the Louisiana Tech Esports Club is to provide an outlet to all students to relieve stress through gaming, as well as forming competitive teams that will be part of various competitions/tournaments. Our current roster has teams for Valorant, Smash Ultimate, Rocket League, League of Legends, Overwatch, CSGO 2, Rainbow 6, and Call of Duty. The Esports Center is located on the 2nd floor of the TONK center is open to all students, so come and check it out!

Fencing is Tech’s newest Club Sport as it was founded in 2023 on our campus. Fencing is a sport that involves one on one blade combat whilst applying strategic maneuvers and athleticism.

The Louisiana Tech Karate Team is a sports club program that focuses on competitive martial arts. Team members train in Tae Kwon Do or Korean Karate and participate in points sparring tournaments hosted by the United States Karate Alliance. The team also teaches practical self defense techniques and emphasizes the development of physical fitness. Members range in experience level from white belts (beginners) to black belts. All members have the opportunity to advance in rank. Our team trains twice weekly at the Ruston Parks and Recreation department located on James Street at 6:30 P.M. Mondays and Wednesdays. We suggest that students who are interested in joining enroll in the Kinesiology 170 beginning karate class. This class is worth 2 credit hours and is held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12:00 P.M. to 1:45 P.M.

The Rock Climbing team climbs at Lambright Sports and Wellness Center on their 30’ artificial wall. The club sport relies heavily on strength, technique, and mental focus. The team uses specialized equipment and regularly altered routes to improve and challenge their skills.

Founded in 2009, Louisiana Tech Roller Hockey competes under the Southwest Collegiate Hockey League and is one of the seven divisions of the National Collegiate Roller Hockey Association. Hockey competes around the country playing teams in their conference. No experience with Hockey or Skating is required-we accept all skill levels! Our mission is to bring the sport of Hockey to the South and Louisiana Tech.

We practice Monday from 6:15- 7:30pm and Tuesday- Friday from 6pm- 7:30pm. Usually we swim everyday and a few days a week we do dryland workouts before we swim.
We have both a competitive and noncompetitive side to our team, however we all still practice together as one. To be a noncompetitive swimmer, the membership fee is $20. To be a competitive swimmer and participate in all of the meets, it’s $50. All levels of swimmers are welcome and we are able to teach you how to swim or more of the strokes if needed.

The Louisiana Tech Wake Team seeks to develop the sport of wakeboarding and encourage all to enjoy life on the water. We currently compete in the Louisiana Collegiate Wake Tour with schools all around the south such as ULM, LSU, Texas Tech, Baylor, Ole Miss, and many others from various states. Although we are a competing wake team one of our big focuses is to introduce anyone interested to the sport and all it has to offer. The competitions are very relaxed and serve primarily to bring together the collegiate wakeboarding community to have fun. Outside of the competition scene there is a lot of team comradery and events. We practice on campus with a winch at hideaway park.
